THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR THE 2023 YFFVP IS NOW CLOSED.  THE PROGRAM IS FULL, SO WE WON'T BE ACCEPTING OR PROCESSING NEW APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME.  WE WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2024 YFFVP SOMETIME IN AUTUMN 2023.  PLEASE USE THE EMAIL ADDRESS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE TO LET US KNOW THAT YOU'D LIKE TO BE ADDED TO OUR CONTACT LIST AND RECEIVE UPDATES ABOUT NEXT YEAR'S PROGRAM AND APPLICATION PROCESS.

  1. Have you applied previously for the YFFVP?  If so, what year(s)?

  3. How many people are in your group (group size is limited to 4 anglers)?  If more than 1, what are their names?

  4. What dates are you available?  Slots will be filled in a two- or three-day consecutive block.

  5. The volunteer work will require standing, walking, and hiking in Yellowstone National Park for an 8 hour day (sometimes shorter or longer).  I can hike at least 3 miles with moderate elevation gains?:   Yes  /  No

  6. Volunteer anglers are expected to be competent fly fishers.  What is the level of your fly fishing ability on a scale from 1 to 10 with 1 being a beginner and 10 an expert: 

  7. Tell us about yourself.  What experience do you have that can be an asset to the program? 

  8. Do you plan to stay in one of the Gardiner, MT hotel rooms we have reserved for the program?  This is NOT paid for by the YFFVP:  Yes  /  No

  9. If not, where are you planning to stay?

  10. Volunteer anglers are expected to pay for their own lodging, food, park pass, gas, fishing permit, bear spray, and all other expenses.  Do you agree to do that?  Yes  /  No

  11. Volunteer anglers are expected to bring their own fly fishing equipment including rods, reels, wading boots (felt soles are prohibited), waders (if necessary), and terminal tackle (leader, tippet, flies, etc).  Lead is prohibited and all hooks must be barbless.  Do you agree to do that?   Yes  /  No

  12. You will need to sign a standard liability release form to participate.  Do you agree to do that?  Yes  /  No

  13. I understand that the 2023 Yellowstone Fly Fishing Volunteer Program could be cancelled or postponed at any time.  Yes  /  No

  14. I have read the YNP safety and fishing guidelines on the Yellowstone National Park website www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm as well as the recommendations found in this website's blog in the "Safety During the YFFVP" entry.  I agree to abide by these rules and safety guidelines: Yes / No
