                   How You Can Help

THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR THE 2023 YFFVP IS NOW CLOSED.  THE PROGRAM IS FULL, SO WE WON'T BE ACCEPTING OR PROCESSING NEW APPLICATIONS AT THIS TIME.  WE WILL BEGIN ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2024 YFFVP SOMETIME IN AUTUMN 2023.  PLEASE USE THE EMAIL ADDRESS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE TO LET US KNOW THAT YOU'D LIKE TO BE ADDED TO OUR CONTACT LIST AND RECEIVE UPDATES ABOUT NEXT YEAR'S PROGRAM AND APPLICATION PROCESS.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO APPLIED FOR THE 2023 YFFVP!

The 2023 Yellowstone Fly Fishing Volunteer Program will be conducted from July 24 through September 1.  Work will be primarily focused on the Lamar River and Slough Creek, but Yellowstone Lake and other waterways may also be included.

Here’s the process to apply to be a volunteer in 2023:

--Highlight the YFFVP application found on this website.  Copy it and paste it into either a word document or an email.

--Complete the Volunteer Application

--Email it to: volunteerflyfishing@yellowstone.org

--The application lottery will be completed before January 1, 2023, and we will email to let you know whether or not your dates have been confirmed.

--If you are confirmed in the program, you’ll be asked to send a lodging confirmation after you make your reservations to secure your spot.  The deadline to do that is February 1, 2023.  If you do not confirm by that date, another angler will be given the opportunity to secure those program dates.

                     Financial Support

Even if you are unable to volunteer for the 2023 YFFVP, or if you were not selected this year, you can still help.  The YFFVP relies upon donations through the Native Fish Conservation Program to operate.  If you’ve ever marveled at the beauty of one of the park’s native cutthroat trout as you’ve held it in your hand, or you simply wish to be able to do that someday, your financial contribution can go a long way towards making that happen.  Please use the link below to ensure that your generous contribution goes directly to the Yellowstone Fly Fishing Volunteer Program.

You can also help in another way:  If you’ve not been selected for the 2023 VFFVP, but still plan to fish the park this year (you should!), make sure to fill out the angler survey card that you receive with your fishing permit or complete the survey online.  The data you provide is a great aid for the biologists who are working to protect the native fish in our amazing park.
